This is represented in the Citizen Science portal display by the &#8220;Verified Data&#8221; and &#8220;Local Data Validation&#8221; modules. Crucially, Open Data at UPSI is governed by\u00a0<strong>Research Data Management (RDM)<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>FAIR Principles<\/strong>, as detailed in our operational framework.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detailed Explanation:<\/strong>\u00a0Open Data means that the raw measurements, survey responses, experimental results, and other datasets created during research can be accessed, used, used again, and redistributed freely. To be truly &#8216;Open,&#8217; this data must adhere to the FAIR principles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>F<\/strong>indable: The data must have unique identifiers (like DOIs) and descriptive metadata so others can locate it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A<\/strong>ccessible: There must be clear protocols for accessing the data, ideally with standard licenses (e.g., Creative Commons).<\/li>\n<li><strong>I<\/strong>nteroperable: Data must use standard formats and vocabularies so it can be combined with other datasets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>R<\/strong>eusable: Data must have rich documentation and clear usage rights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The RDM Framework (Key Operational Element):<\/strong>\u00a0RDM is the systematic process of managing data throughout the entire research lifecycle. It ensures that the FAIR principles are applied at every step. This requires:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Polisi &amp; Proses:<\/strong>\u00a0Defining\u00a0<em>what<\/em>\u00a0data is shared and\u00a0<em>how<\/em>\u00a0it is managed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Platform (Infrastructure):<\/strong>\u00a0This is where the\u00a0<strong>sWADAH Stream system<\/strong>\u00a0comes in, acting as the Data Repository, Aggregator, and Curation platform.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pengguna\/Warga:<\/strong>\u00a0The human element-training researchers and data stewards to manage and deposit data correctly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Importance in Open Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Validation and Reproducibility:<\/strong>\u00a0Allows other researchers to verify findings and replicate experiments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Innovation:<\/strong>\u00a0Fresh analyses of existing data can lead to new discoveries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Efficiency:<\/strong>\u00a0Reduces duplication of effort in creating similar datasets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Implementation at UPSI (as per Agenda):<\/strong>\u00a0UPSI has a clear timeline to make Open Data a reality.\u00a0<strong>2025<\/strong>\u00a0is dedicated to developing the RDM Policy, training data stewards via the ASM Data Stewardship Programme, and pilot testing the RDM system.
